Veronica Goddard

Liberal Democrat Councillor for Leeming Ward

I’ve been keeping busy..

and to let you know what I’ve been doing, here’s my diary  from 25th -29th February.

Monday, as ever, catching up and replying to incoming emails, reading Planning & Building Control reports. Attended Cabinet Meeting on behalf of Select Commission 1.

Tuesday, helping at Navi Saheli Luncheon Club, where there was a presentation by West Notts College students from the Social Studies course.

Wednesday, I went to Ludborough Walk coffee morning to gather any problems and take answers to previous queries. Then I was out & about in the ward, checking on damaged road signs with a view to getting repairs or replacements. Also doing litter & graffiti spotting to report to Grimebusters.

Thursday, I was at the official opening of the new Incubation Units on Park road. In the evening I attended the Manor Residents’ Association.

Friday, I was standing outside M/W Co-oP for Meet your Local Councillor, noting the queries and problems of M/Woodhouse residents. Then it was working  on the phone to help with arrangements for Peafield Carnival.

Saturday - day off

Sunday, Delivering the Woodhouse Warbler.

As well as these official responsibilities, I have been distributing poop-scoop bags in the ward and looking out for problems, reporting them and picking litter and helping constituents with their concerns and problems.

March 3rd - 7th

Monday -  Planning Committee  all evening (results of  applications can be found by clicking on  Mansfield District Council in ’useful links’. Follow directions to the external link for meeting agenda and minutes.)

Wednesday - Planning - delegated decisions on applications which do not go to full Planning Committee. Then afterwards, I did the usual Poop scoop bags distribution. I now have 18 regulars who ask me for bags so I am doing my bit to reduce the amount of dog’s mess in the ward. ( I hear the shouts of ‘Oh, thank goodness!’)Thursday -  Council - Full meeting. These meetings are always full of interest and if you want to see minutes of meetings, follow the ‘useful link’ to MDC.Friday - No official duties, so did some computer ‘housekeeping and casework.Same as ever, I was out and about all week  visiting residents and giving answers to their queries and taking a walk in the park and around the ward.  Don’t forget…..if you need any help, give me a call. Working for you all year round.March 10th - 14thMonday - A busy day, starting at 9-15 with the meeting of Peafield Playscheme, where we discussed plans for this year’s event.  Then, at 12.30, I had a visit to Manor School; along with another Governor, Gail, I visited the Student Services department to assess how well these services provide for the students. I was very impressed by the hard work they put in.  Then it was on to Civic Centre for a 4.30 meeting of Select Commission 1 to discuss developments in the Closure of St John Street toilets and the Call in to question the appropriateness of the closure.Tuesday - 10 - 12noon, Neighbourhood Working meeting, followed by lunch at Navi Saheli. Then it was into town for the Freedom March of the Mercian Regiment, already reported….

March 17th - 21st

Monday - working in the Ward, making visits to constituents with answers to queries.

Tuesday - Public Consultation on the closure of St John Street toilets. (This was a truly freezing day and standing about in the cold for 2 hours+ resulted in me being off work for the next few days, so no more to report for this week.)

March 24th-28th

Off work - ill.
